In 2006 I initiated an internet search for a new vehicle. I “signed up” for a search and internet pricing from Koons Ford of Annapolis, Md.On August 9 I received an offer to reduce ANY price I had by $500. “No strings attached” the letter stated. It further stated “you do not have to bring this letter in”, “you are receiving this because you are a preferred customer”. Further that the 500. off applied to any dealer,
including a price from Koons.
On October 28 I entered Koons Ford with the understanding I was to “complete the deal” and sign papers. At that time I announce that I possessed an email that had been mailed to me reducing the price by $500. The initiator of that letter told me it was NOT open ended and that they were not going to honor their offer to me. Even though I had searched vigilantly and continuously via emails with the salesman, Mike Wolyn over the entire 3 month period. Mike Wolyn admitted to me that many buyers DO shop for 3 months!!I have since written them a letter requesting them to do the “right thing” and follow through with their offer and honor their commitment to the public. I further stated that if they did not I would be filing a claim in small claims court. There was NO response whatsoever. Not a phone call, not an email, that’s right NO offer whatsoever.I have bought 6 new vehicles over the years from Koons Ford of Annapolis and buy 2 every 8 years. Hmmmmm, that’s 2 new vehicles (25,000 – 30,000.) x 2 = 50,000 – 60,000. EVERY EIGHT YEARS. Evidently Koons Ford does NOT care what you spend there, my impression is they only care about what they can cheat you out of.I have since filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and dependant on the results there may have to take the company to court.I was contacted via phone by the Attorney Generals office. Having looked over my documentation as submitted to them they told me I “had a pretty good case”. Further that they would write Koons a letter and send me a copy. My copy arrived Feb. 2 2007. To date there
has been no response.

In March 2007 the States Attorney’s Office obtained a check from Koons for $500. made out to me. There was a letter attached from the general sales manager stating in effect; “when I heard of this error I immediately attempted to contact Mr. Johnson but was unable to….” which raises further questions in my mind.Are they liars? Koons has my home address at the very least in their finance office and sales office. I have, since the settlement, received a copy of my sales contract which they failed to provide me, VIA POSTAL MAIL! I had communicated with 2 sales people regarding my plight VIA EMAIL! My phone # is not only in the hands of the salesman, but also the finance dept. and Ford Finance.OR, perhaps they are only poor managers of information and not liars. Either way I suggest you look at another dealer who is apt to be either more honest, business like and treat their customers with respect. Unless of course you are prepared to compile pages of documents to send to the states attorney’s office, then wait a couple months for what is rightfully yours!written by Jeff Johnson, Annapolis, Md.
