  • Rebreathers add to bottom time with substantially less gas use.
  1. Volume of gas used is NOT depth dependant.  see: gas use / duration
  2. You will probably use about 3 – 4 cf an hour no matter how much you breathe or how deep you are.

  • Lengthen No decompression limits

  • Shorten Decompression schedules

  • Calculations of CNS simplified

  • Maintain a reasonable moisture content in the gas.

Unlike open circuit scuba, no more dry mouth!

  • The gas is warm rather than cold, as in open circuit.
  1. Due to pressure reduction of substantial amounts of gas, in open circuit, just prior to inhalation.
  2. Less gas used in a rebreather means less cool gas is introduced.
  3. Our lungs contain dense vascular system which transfer core body heat. You will not expel that body heat  into the water,
the heat is maintained, in varying degrees, within the loop.
  4. Rebreather gases are also warmed by the chemical reaction during the carbon dioxide scrubbing process.
